We were asked to build 2 pillars with adjoining walls for an entrance to a driveway in Bramhope, N Yorkshire. The adjoining walls were slightly curved, and gradually rise in height from the old roadside walls. The pillars were built to accommodate an electric gate. The customer asked for a stone to be placed in the wall with a hand-carved house number, which we painted black.
“(Saxum) did 2 phases of work for us at the back end of 2024 and into 2025: a 2m high drystone wall and redoing the entrance to our drive with a reshaped drystone wall and 2 drystone pillars with flat stone tops. You also did a hand carved number set seamlessly into the wall and worked with no bother around some of the wiring that was needed for our new gate system.
You did everything by hand and really took the time to make sure it was done absolutely right. As a result the walls feel stronger than any other l've seen and look perfectly imperfect! We're really happy with the finished article.
More than that, you were both really communicative, turned up when you said you would do to look at the work, quote, and then do the work. The price you quoted is the price we paid, you tidied up well and were always open to our ideas and ready with your own. I even got an education in audiobooks and old time jazz! You were a pleasure to have around.
Thanks to you both for a 5* job with 5* service.”
